Nursing Practice Education and Research

Welcome to the home page for the Division of Nursing Practice Education and Research at University of North Carolina Hospitals! The programs offered by Nursing Practice, Education, and Research play a vital role in assisting the new nurse employee transitioning to the work environment as well as offering a wide variety of learning opportunities to meet the needs of the seasoned nurse.

Continuing Education Programs are offered at The William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education  throughout the year. Residency Programs focus on successful transition of the new graduate RN to the clinical units. Nursing Grand Rounds provide staff nurses the opportunity to polish their presentation skills and Professional Development classes focus on resume writing and portfolio building. In addition, Preceptor Development and Charge Nurse classes enhance the skills of those nurses assuming new roles within their units.

The Nursing Research Council offers staff the opportunity to get involved in nursing research. Members of the Nursing Practice, Education, and Research team work closely with clinical practice groups and the hospital Standards Committee to ensure ongoing evidence-based clinical practice through meticulous review of nursing policies, protocols and procedures.

In short, there are a many educational offerings supported by Nursing Practice, Education, and Research for nurses within UNC Hospitals.  We invite you to spend some time getting to know our team and the wide variety of resources that we have within our group.  We look forward to working with you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Marilyn Pearson Morales, MSN, APRN, BC, FNP, CLNC
