Welcome to the home page for Emergency Services at UNC Hospitals! UNC Hospitals serves the people of North Carolina as a major statewide referral center and designated Level I Trauma Center. We are one of only five Level I Trauma Centers in the state. Health care providers and hospitals throughout North Carolina and the surrounding region send patients to UNC Hospitals for the high levels of specialty and tertiary care provided.
The Emergency Services encompasses the Emergency Department, Carolina Air Care, Admission Unit, and Trauma Program.
