Welcome to the home page for the University of North Carolina Hospitals Center for Heart and Vascular Care! The UNC Hospitals Center for Heart and Vascular Care is an ongoing collaboration of a multidisciplinary team that produces comprehensive care with the very best outcomes for our patients and full support for their families.  We provide care for the adult patient with primary heart and lung disease from admission through discharge, and beyond.  While maintaining a high level of nursing expertise across all areas of the Center for Heart and Vascular Care - from outpatient clinics and diagnostic facilities to operating rooms and the inpatient units - our nurses bring cardiac-specific training and complete dedication to the needs of our patients.  We offer a wide variety of learning experiences that will challenge both the seasoned nurse and the new graduate.

The inpatient areas include the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, 3 Anderson (including the Intermediate Coronary Care Unit and Telemetry Unit), and 4 Anderson South (the Cardio-thoracic Surgery Progressive Care Unit).  The UNC Hospitals Center for Heart and Vascular Care also incorporates the cardiac diagnostic areas, cardiac rehabilitation at the Wellness Center, and the UNC Heart Center at Meadowmont.  Procedurally oriented nurses have opportunities in the cardiac catheterization lab, the electrophysiology lab, and the echocardiography suite.  Cardiac rehabilitation employs outpatient nurses to evaluate, plan and monitor patients after an acute cardiac event or as a preventative measure for those with significant cardiac risk factors.  The clinic setting employs nurses and nurse practitioners to effectively provide comprehensive outpatient services for cardiology patients.
