Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Consult Service

Welcome to the home page for the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing (WOCN) Consult Service at UNC Health Care. WOCNs 
serve at UNC Health Care in three main roles - clinical/consultant, staff development, and research participant.  Our clinical practice encompasses management of ostomies and continent diversions, skin breakdown and acute/chronic wounds, fecal and/or urinary incontinence, and specific in/outpatient services.  These specific services involve pre- and post-operative education, counseling, and stoma site selection/marking for patients undergoing ostomy surgery; assessment and plan of care for patients with draining wounds, fistulae, and tubes; assessment and plan of care for patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis, drainage, or incontinence; and evaluation of patients for appropriate and efficient use of specialty beds.  We thank you for visiting our website.
