Women's Services
Welcome to the home page for the University of North Carolina Hospitals Women’s Services. Women’s Services is a dynamic, growing hospital within the University of North Carolina Health Care System. Women’s Hospital includes a 15-bed Labor and Delivery unit with an additional five triage rooms, averaging 3600 deliveries annually. The 28-bed maternity care center works collaboratively with the Newborn Nursery to deliver high quality care to mothers and infants. State-of-the-art monitoring systems facilitate patient care on this unit. The 22-bed Gyn/Gyn Oncology unit cares for surgical patients and patients requiring chemotherapy.
Women’s Services nursing staff are active in many hospital teams for patient care improvement. In addition, the nursing staff participates in clinical practice groups to set the standards for care for their patients. Their collaboration with the medical staff is essential to provide high quality care to women and results in excellent patient satisfaction. Other services that enhance the experience for our patients include Lactation Service made up of board certified lactation consultants who assist new mothers in breastfeeding. Our Women’s Health Information Center provides many learning opportunities for the community across the continuum of women’s health care. The Family Violence Intervention Program provides another resource to women and their families in need.
