Ante-Partum

3 Women’s is a 13 bed inpatient unit focusing on the
care of high risk antenatal patients. Staff are specially trained
to care for mom and her unborn baby in private rooms that provide up to
date monitoring capabilities throughout each patients
stay.
Strengths: The 3 Women’s
staff is specially trained to provide care for these antenatal
patients and families including state of the art monitoring
techniques and care plans designed to monitor high risk
patients.

L&D is a Level III referral center, which provides
care to both normal and high-risk laboring and ante partum
patients. Over 3,800 babies are born each year at UNCH, as well as
high-risk procedures such as vaginal and cerclage placements and
amniocentesis. The area consists of 15 labor and delivery rooms, 5
triage rooms, 3 operating rooms and a 2-bed recovery
room.
Strengths: The staff
is highly committed to caring for women, babies, and families. The
majority of the staff is certified in neonatal resuscitation and
attends a high-risk core curriculum.

The maternity unit staff provides care for high-risk
and low-risk postpartum patients. The Maternity Care Center is a
28 bed mother/baby unit. There is a newborn nursery, patient
activity room, an exam/treatment room, and a nursing lounge
station.
Strengths: The staff
is highly committed to caring for women, babies and families. We
have a long history of flexible rooming-in, sibling visitation, and
support for breastfeeding, patient education and nurturing the
mother.
GYN/GYN

6 Women’s is a 22-bed unit dedicated to the advancement of
patient and family-care, education and research in the field of
gynecology and gynecologic oncology. We care for the middle adult,
adult and geriatric GYN / GYN Oncology and post partum
patient. Four beds are available for Radiation Therapy. Our
focus is to provide optimal care to persons with an actual and/or
potential diagnosis of cancer.
Strengths: The 6
Women’s staff uses a team approach to facilitate appropriate and
effective care for our patients and families. Patient/families are
encouraged to participate in their health care to maximize patient
self-care skills and promote healthy
lifestyles.
