Our providers are Dr. Mohan Chilukuri, Dr. Mignon Benjamin, Dr. Nicole Price Swiner, Dr. Nicola Fynn and Eugene Farrug, FNP.
Dr. Mohan Chilukuri was raised on the warm, sunny coast of the Bay of Bengal. At age 14, he moved with his parents to Barbourville, Kentucky, where his father taught physics. He attended Oberlin and Union College, graduating in biology, then on to the Wildcat country of University of Kentucky for his medical degree.
He completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Trover Clinic Foundation in Madisonville, Kentucky. He joined the staff at Trover Clinic, where he practiced for eight years until he moved to join the faculty at Duke Family Medicine. While at Duke he practiced at a community clinic for three years and also continued to teach family medicine residents as well as medical and nurse practitioner students.
Dr. Chilukuri has a certificate in geriatrics, and is also interested in hypertension, hyperlipidemia, preventive medicine, and ethics.
Dr. Mignon Benjamin graduated from Brandeis University and studied pre-med at Columbia University. She graduated from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She trained in Family Medicine at Duke University and worked for several years in a group practice in North Durham.
Prior to joining Durham Family Practice, Dr. Benjamin spent a year in a rural setting, practicing occupational medicine and primary care.
She has trained residents in family practice and nurse practitioners in a clinic setting and will continue teaching at Durham Family Practice. Her interests are women’s health, preventative pediatrics, occupational health, and nutrition.
Dr. Nicole Price Swiner is a native of South Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree at Duke University and her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency in family medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Price has interests in minority health, women's health and pediatrics.
Dr. Nicola Fynn
Dr. Nicola Fynn is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she obtained her medical degree. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at UNC Hospitals. Before entering her residency program Dr. Fynn received the Family Medicine Department Award in Professionalism and the Gold Humanism in Medicine Award.
Gene Farrug is a Board Certified (ANCC) Family Nurse Practitioner who graduated from the Masters of Science/Family Nurse Practitioner program at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a specialty in Community Oriented Primary Care. He received his Bachelors of Science from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo MI, where he majored in nursing and minored in biology and psychology.
Gene completed a Nursing Residency in Cardiology at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC, and a Nursing Internship/Externship at Borgess & Bronson Medical Centers in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He has worked in various clinical settings including Clinical Education at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Nursing, Primary Care, Emergency, Cardiac and Critical Care Medicine. Gene’s philosophy on health care is based on healthy aging, holism, education and empowerment and relationship centered care.
He is originally from Troy (Detroit Metropolitan) Michigan and is an avid hiker and outdoors person with his wife Aimee. Gene enjoys gardening and especially the art of Bonsai.
