More than 2,500 babies are born at UNC each year. The new Labor and Delivery area consists of 15 labor and delivery rooms, five triage rooms, a recovery room and three operating rooms. In addition, the Maternity Care Center boasts 28 private rooms for women and a newborn nursery. The center works closely to ensure comprehensive family-centered care. Rooming-in or nursery care is available, and in-room deliveries are expected for most patients. Maternity and sibling tours and childbirth and breast-feeding classes are available for families. |
