Clinical Research
A distinguishing characteristic of UNC Health Care is its
association with the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. The UNC
School of Medicine’s mission is to improve the health of all North
Carolinians. This is accomplished by achieving excellence and
providing leadership in the interrelated areas of patient care,
education and research.
As new drugs and treatments are developed and tested in our
laboratories, those which hold promise to help fight disease and
illness are further tested in controlled, closely monitored
environments using patient volunteers. These human research studies are
commonly called clinical studies or clinical trials. Many studies
are looking for healthy people of all ages, while some are looking for
people with specific health conditions.
To access research studies or trials currently taking place at UNC,
please visit the NC TraCS (North Carolina Translational and
Clinical Sciences) Institute website.
If you are looking to participate in Cancer Clinical Trials please visit UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Clinical Trials website.
To learn more information about cancer trials in general read "Taking Part in Cancer Treatment Research Studies."
To join a volunteer registry visit Researchmatch. Researchmatch is a national
registry of volunteers willing to learn more about research
studies. It is free and takes only a few minutes to sign
up.
The Office of Clinical Trials at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill provides additional information in
English and Spanish for individuals interested in participating in a clinical trial.
