Ethics Education Service
Process
The director of ethics education, in collaboration with the HEC, provides ethics education services for the HEC and for faculty and staff of UNC Hospitals, as well as for the communities we serve. Ethics education is offered on a variety of topics and in diverse settings. Some education examines moral theory, methods, and ethical foundations, while other educational efforts focus on particular clinical or research topics. Current ethics series address ethical issues in pediatrics, emergency medicine, transplantation, and critical care. For adult and pediatric patients, end of life issues, critical illness, disability, patient and surrogate decision making, treatment refusals or requests, professional relationships, and allocation of scarce resources are frequently topics of ethics interest.
Policy
The ethics education services frequently collaborates with faculty members and with hospital and ancillary staff, at UNC and elsewhere, to teach a wide variety of topics to diverse audiences. We welcome your requests for education and the opportunity to work with your staff.
