Nutrition & Food Services

Your meals are important to you and to us. If you are on a diet that allows you to select your own food while in the hospital, you may choose your menu for each meal from a variety of foods. If, for medical reasons, you are on a special diet, you will be given food choices that meet specific dietary guidelines set by your doctor. For most of our patients, a host or hostess from Nutrition & Food Services will visit your room before each meal to tell you about our daily specials and other options and take your order. Some patients will receive menus to complete before each meal. Nutrition education is available for patients with special needs. The department provides professional consultation by clinical dietitians who work with patients, doctors, nurses, and other patient care team members to provide education and nutritional information. A variety of dining options are available to UNC Hospitals’ patients, family and staff. In addition to the following listings, vending machines are located throughout the hospitals.

Our Terrace Café, located on the first floor Terrace of the N.C. Children’s Hospital, offers many dining options for our employees, visitors, and patients, and it is always open 24/7/365.

Continental Traders

Continental Traders offers great meals from right around the corner and every corner of the globe.
Selections include BBQ chicken, fried chicken, rotisserie chicken, Dot’s Famous BBQ, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and much more including a daily feature.

Offering a variety of grab and go options, beverages, and snacks for our guests and patients at the ACC outpatient clinic. Hour and options will be expanding in late summer or fall of 2011.
