Providing quality health care and outstanding service is fundamental to everything we do at UNC Hospitals. In keeping with our committment to our patients and their families, the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology is continually working to make the care we provide more convenient and more accessible. In April 2006 we opened the UNC Hospitals Hearing and Voice Center at Carolina Pointe I. This clinic is located at the intersection of Highway 54 and Interstate 40 near exit 273.

This Audiology and Speech Pathology satellite clinic is staffed by an interdisciplinary team of four audiologists and two speech-language pathologists who work collaboratively with the physicians from the UNC Hospitals Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Many of the services and appointments that are available at our UNC Hospitals location are also available at our Carolina Pointe I location.

Hearing aid repair and electroacoustic evaluation
Cochlear implant evaluations
Programming, troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluations of cochlear implant equipment (Med-El, Cochlear Americas, and Advanced Bionics)
Swim molds
Custom-fit in-ear headphones including personal audio monitors and earbud molds
Custom hearing protection including musician's earplugs
Comprehensive hearing evaluations for pediatric through adult patient populations
Immittance testing
Otoacoustic emissions
Aural (hearing) rehabilitation, education and counseling
