Other Employee Benefit Programs

UNC Health Care offers employees a variety of programs in which to participate. The programs listed below are all optional and intended to benefit the employee.


Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's) 

UNC Health Care employees are eligible to participate in a Employee Assistance Program. The program is optional and paid for by UNC Health Care.

Income Tax Preparation Assistance 

UNC Health Care offers employees free income tax preparation assistance. This program runs from early February through mid-April. It includes tax preparation and electronic filing. Some restrictions apply.

Service Awards  

UNC Health Care offers employees Service Awards. These awards are based on length of service (5-year minimum) and are given at 5-year intervals.

Longevity Pay 

UNC Health Care offers long-term employees Longevity Pay. Longevity pay recognizes long-term service of Full-time Permanent and Part-time Permanent (half-time or more) employees who have at least 10 years of state service. Annual longevity pay amounts are based on the length of Total State Service and a percent of the employee's annual rate of base pay on the date of eligibility.

Longevity pay amounts are computed by multiplying the employee's base pay rate by the appropriate percentage from the following table. (Salary increases effective on the longevity eligibility date shall be incorporated in the base pay before computing longevity.)
