Co-preceptorBrian Goldstein, MD, MBA Dr. Goldstein was appointed Chief of Staff for UNC Hospitals in July 2002. He is also Executive Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Associate Professor of Medicine, UNC-CH School of Medicine. From September 1998 to March 2000, Dr. Goldstein was Medical Director for a multi-specialty physician group. From 1994 to 1998, he practiced at the Marshfield Clinic, a 600-physician not-for-profit multi-specialty practice in Wisconsin. While there, he held multiple leadership posts, including Chairman, Department of General Internal Medicine, and Acting Medical Director of Security Health Plan, a 100,000-member physician-owned Health Maintenance Organization. Dr. Goldstein received a bachelors degree from the University of Virginia, and M.D. from New York University School of Medicine, and a master’s degree in Health Care Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine and Chief Residency at UNC Hospitals from 1989 to 1993. |

Co-preceptorChris Ellington Mr. Ellington served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of UNC Hospitals from 2008 to 2010 before being promoted to his current position in July, 2010. Prior to joining UNC, Chris served as the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs and Chief Financial Officer for Appalachian Regional Healthcare from 2002-2008. He has held various senior financial executive roles for Norton Healthcare (KY), Columbia HCA (KY), Health Management Associates (SC) and Tenet Healthcare (TX). Mr. Ellington is a Fellow and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional in the Healthcare Financial Management Association, received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Clemson an MBA with a focus on healthcare management from the University of Phoenix. He has served on a number of boards in his tenure and was until recently a member of the Kentucky Medicaid Technical Advisory Committee. |

Fellowship CoordinatorDan Lehman, FACHE Mr. Lehman came to UNC Hospitals in 1994 as Associate Director of Planning and Program Development. While in this capacity the focus of his responsibilities included strategic planning, database development and management, facility planning and design, business and network development including the establishment of a network of UNC-owned and operated community-based physician clinics. In early 2000, Mr. Lehman moved to a leadership position in hospital operations and is now responsible for a number of support and professional services including: the UNC Wellness Center, Nutrition and Food Services, Clinical Dietitians, Environmental Services, Patient Transportation Guest Services and the Service Response Center. Prior to coming to UNC Hospitals, Mr. Lehman completed the two-year post-graduate fellowship program at Johns Hopkins and worked for Danville Regional Medical Center as Director of Planning and Market Research. Mr. Lehman has an undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University (B.S. in Allied Health - Medical Technology) and a master's degree from The Sloan Graduate Program in Health Policy and Administration at Cornell University. Community activities include board memberships and appointments with Healthy Carolinians of Orange County, the University Child Care Center board of directors, chair of the master facility planning and construction task force at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. |
