Children, parents sought for study of text messaging in treatment of childhood overweight

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Children 5-13 years old who are at risk of being overweight are invited to participate in an 8-week study that tests using cell phone text messaging to self-monitor healthy behaviors. One parent for each child is also needed to participate in the study, which is being conducted by researchers in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Parents who are interested in participating may call (919) 966-4410 to schedule an assessment.
