Pharmacy Residency Programs
|
We are excited that you are interested in our departmental
residency programs. Whether it is pharmacy practice (PGY1), specialty
clinical (PGY2), or our combined health-system pharmacy administration
/ MS program that you are looking for, our department has a long
history of residency training. Our program started small in 1967, but
has steadily grown and now offers a number of specialty programs and
trains a diverse group of residents. We have well over 300 residency
graduates that are impacting patient care and pharmacy services all
over the world.
As you begin to explore all that UNCH has to offer there are a few
things that we would like to highlight about our training environment.
We strive to utilize pharmacy technicians, technology, and best
practices to provide an environment for optimal learning. We also have
state of the art facilities, giving our employees what they need to
deliver impactful patient care. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is
located on our campus, allowing for an academic mindset in the pursuit
of approaching therapeutic options to treat our patients. Our
preceptors have a long record of training excellent residents, both in
the compassion of caring and in understanding the evidence behind
treatment recommendations.
Our residents come from all over the country, so we strive to
create a family atmosphere within our department. Each resident will
get to know their fellow trainees so that they can provide support to
one another and grow together throughout the course of the year. In
addition, our residents have a long history of serving the community
through participating in local health clinics. Residents also teach in
the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and publish their work in a variety
of pharmacy journals. Many of our residents even become Board Certified
during their training years.
Even though the residency process is challenging, you will become
an integral part of the Carolina pharmacy family at UNC. We are proud
of every resident that has come through our doors. Take a look at our
different programs, and please let me know if I can answer any
questions you might have. Thank you for considering our program.
