Mission Statement

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by the University of North Carolina Health Care System. Our mission is to provide and promote comprehensive pharmaceutical care. This commitment extends to our patients and community, and encompasses service, teaching, and research to optimize medication-related outcomes.

Department Values

The University of North Carolina Department of Pharmacy is an organization of more than 150 people who focus their attention on caring for patients of the UNC Health Care System. We are culturally diverse and have a variety of backgrounds, interests, capabilities and experience.  We dedicate ourselves to the following principles, standards, and qualities that we consider essential to the pursuit of our mission and we hold each other accountable for the behaviors that embody these values.

Teamwork: each do your part, work together towards the efficiency and effectiveness of the whole (never saying, "It’s not my job.");

Integrity: firmly adhere to a code of ethical values that encompass trust, honesty, confidentiality and reliability;

Initiative: display energy or aptitude in beginning action; self-starting;

Selflessness: consider others before oneself...share responsibilities for all departmental activities;

Diligence: pay continuous attention to the responsibilities of the job;

Leadership: guide the way by going in advance;
