College Volunteers
|
Volunteering at UNC Health Care is a
wonderful way to serve others in a meaningful manner, in addition to
becoming exposed to the many career opportunities offered in a health
care setting. We appreciate your interest in serving the
patients at UNC Health Care and look forward to working with
you on your volunteer journey!
"College" Volunteers include
undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students. Most
of our volunteers attend UNC-Chapel Hill, but it is certainly not a
requirement. Students who are not taking a full course load and
whose schedules do not change by the semester can also
volunteer under the Adult Volunteer guidelines. College
Volunteers register each semester to allow for class schedule
changes. College Volunteer areas and times are assigned on a
first come basis during walk-in registration. Some service areas
have specific volunteer criteria. That criteria is outlined in
the College Volunteer Opportunity List located
below.

Volunteering
Dates:
May 20th-July 23rd (both UNC Summer
Sessions)
*Applicants must be committed to volunteering
consistently for this entire period.

Walk-In
Registration:
May 13th 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm or
May 14th 9am-12pm and 1pm-3pm

Walk-in registration may take several hours. Please
be prepared to spend a significant amount of time in line.
Mandatory
Orientation:
May 15th or 16th (choose one) 5pm-7:30pm

Requirements
All of the
following are requirements that apply to every college
volunteer:
- Applicants must be able to commit to volunteering on a weekly basis
for 2 1/2 - 3 hours (for a
minimum of 25 hours/semester).
- Applicants must be committed to volunteering for the entire
volunteer period.
- Applicants must attend the mandatory orientation session offered once
a semester.
- Applicants must turn in all required paperwork.
- Applicants must be willing to abide by a dress code, which includes
the purchase of a volunteer polo shirt for $10.

Application Process and Required
Forms
If you are
interested in becoming a volunteer at UNC Health Care, you must
complete an ONLINE
application. Please check
our Important Dates (see
above) to find out when the
application will be live. If
the link is deactivated, we are unable to take volunteers at
this time. You are either too early or too late to volunteer this
semester; please try again next semester. We
will not process or look at your application until you
come to walk-in registration. You will also need to bring all
other required paperwork with you to walk-in registration. To view the
