Here are just some of the ways that UNC Health Care helped served the community in 2014.
- 38,000 miles walked through the Heels in Motion program. This free mallwalking program is sponsored by UNC Health Care at the Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham
- 10,000 items collected through the fourth annual Stuff the Bus which collects school supplies for Orange County students
- 1 Habitat for Humanity home built by volunteers from UNC Health Care
- 500+ students who attended National Youth Leadership Forum, a career exploration program for high school students interested in medicine
- $750,000 given to Piedmont Health Services to help improve care access
- 100 students invited to UNC Med School experience
- 30 media and community events participated in by UNC Family Medicine
- 6,800 lbs—weight of truck (an F150) pulled in the Healthiest You Challenge
- 52 participants who completed the Healthiest You Challenge
- 3,800 miles traveled by the Kidney Vehicle
- 27 free screenings done by Kidney Education Outreach Program
- 6,285 participants in Safe Kids Orange County programs
- 5,908 students taught with high school mock crashes
- 140 high school students that attended the Health Careers Symposium
