Ways You Can Help
While we are urging people to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance for social distancing and staying home as much as possible, many people are still looking for ways they can help. Some of the ways you can help your local hospitals and the community are listed to the right.
UNC Health is now accepting donations of personal protective equipment (PPE).
If you or your company have a supply of masks, hand sanitizer, or other essential medical supplies please donate them to help protect healthcare workers and patients.
UNC Health will accept any of the following items:
- N95 masks
- Disposable gowns
- Ear savers
- Face shields
- Disinfectant wipes
We appreciate your donations! Please use one of the community locations listed to the right to drop off supplies. Please do not bring supplies to our hospitals directly. Thank you!
Follow us on social to stay up-to-date on how you can help. Find us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
If you have a question about donations email email@example.com.
Thank you for helping to protect healthcare workers!
Donors are encouraged to give at The Blood Connection’s Donation Center at 5925 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. The Center is open every day: Monday - Friday 7 a.m. -7 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday 7 a.m. -5 p.m.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment at www.thebloodconnection.org, however walk-ins are welcome. The Blood Connection centers have been deep cleaned, and precautions are in place to protect every donor, including physical distancing.
Get Involved with Research at UNC
UNC researchers are working hard to learn more about coronavirus (COVID-19). Learn about the work being done, available clinical trials, and how you can get involved, including donating plasma with COVID-19 antibodies, at Research for Me.
Cards and Messages
We would like to thank all of the students, teachers, and community partners who have reached out wanting to support our healthcare workers with cards and messages of hope. We have set up an email address for you to submit pictures of your drawings, thank you notes, etc. These pictures will be used to create a screen saver so that healthcare workers can enjoy notes of encouragement throughout the day. Please send all pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org. Pictures should be good quality jpg or png files. Please do not send images embedded in emails. Pictures made with cellphones are fine. Thank you for your support.
COVID-19 Response Fund
Gifts to the COVID-19 Response Fund will provide critical funding for UNC Health’s immediate needs to fight the pandemic. These include:
- Protective equipment for health care providers on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak
- Lab equipment and materials for researchers working around the clock to develop new tests and treatments
- Aid for already-vulnerable patients, families and caregivers suffering from additional loss of income
- Financial support for medical students affected by reduced campus operations
