Kristel Maes, MPT

Kristel Maes, a native from Belgium, joined our team in 2011. She graduated in 1999 with a Masters in Physical therapy attained at the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium. She is a Diplomate in the McKenzie approach (also known as Mechanical Diagnose and Therapy). This is a specialization in the treatment of spine disorders, particularly disc and nerve problems. She is one of less than 400 therapists worldwide to hold this degree. Kristel brings with her many years of experience in the outpatient field where she always was considered as the “spine expert”. In her first years after graduating, she worked in different settings such as an outpatient rehabilitation facility and a private practice in Germany and Belgium. She also worked for the US Army in Germany and an orthopaedic clinic in Savannah, Georgia. She enjoys working with patients and her goal is to educate them in regards of their problem, teach them self management (how to treat and manage their pain themselves), and prevent recurrences.
