Badge Picture

Our department is responsible for security throughout the UNC Hospitals main campus, as well as for several off-campus locations. Thank you for stopping by. Please take a moment to browse our site.

The Hospital Police Department is dedicated to providing the safest possible working and living environment for all members of the UNC Hospitals Community - faculty, staff, students, patients and visitors consistent with the security needs of UNC Hospitals.

A computerized CCTV/Alarm/Access Control System aids the Hospital Police Department in its tasks and is operated from our dispatch center. All entrances and exits, as well as the perimeter of the Hospitals, are covered by closed circuit television equipment. In addition, specialized alarm systems are utilized to prevent, deter and intervene in unauthorized activity when appropriate.  This system is integrated with our identification badge to enhance the security of designated areas.
